Multi-language Unicode messaging
A standard text message using the GSM alphabet can contain up to 160 characters (140 bytes). However, if you want to send a message that does not use the GSM alphabet (e.g. Chinese or Arabic), the message must be sent as Unicode.
An SMS message sent using Unicode characters is limited to a maximum of 70 characters. To send a message as Unicode, the Unicode parameter must be set to 1.
If this parameter is set, the message text must be in hex format. We expect UCS-2 (Big Endian) character set.
Values set are:
Value |
Status |
---|---|
0 |
Off – Default status |
1 |
On – Delivers the text as two-byte Unicode |
You can view the Parameters list page to see the name of the parameter for the API you are using.
